Final two weeks of Autumn Term

Dear Parents,

Wow, what a couple of weeks it has been. I’m not sure I can even remember what happened last week, this week has been so full of excitement and activity! What with snow days, services, spelling bees, nativities, Christmas lunches, etc, etc!

In Maths the children have been carrying on their work with division and fractions and marrying the two by turning division remainders in to fractions and decimals. We know the children have found this challenging but we will be re-visiting it in the coming terms.

In English the children performed some unique, well-written and entertaining raps to finish off their unit. They did exceptionally well performing them to the class. We were really impressed with their commitment and enthusiasm. This week they have written detailed, persuasive letters to Santa. If you would like a sneak peak at what they have asked for, please pop in and ask for a copy!

In RE we have been looking at the season of Advent. The children wrote some detailed and clear instructions of how to make and Advent wreath and looked at the Annunciation, thinking about how Mary would have felt and what her reactions would be.

In Computing 5S were lucky to welcome a visitor to support them on their next step of coding. Mrs White (a Primary IT guru and friend of mine) came in last week and started them off with writing programming for a maze game. She was so impressed by their work and behaviour that she said she would come back to help them finish the games. This happened on Thursday morning and the children worked extremely hard again and created some impressive games using code in the Scratch programme.

We had 5 children from our class representing the school at the Rotary Carol Concert last week and they did extremely well, standing and singing proudly having spent lots of time practising. Well done it was a beautiful evening.

All of the children attended a Reconciliation Service this week, which was another lovely event.

Over the last few days we have had much excitement and energy for the juniors dance off competition (well done St Clare), Christmas lunch and the Christmas parties. Monday and Tuesday will hold the Santa Fun Run and much more.

The children finish at 2.15 on Tuesday and will probably need a well-deserved rest! They have had an amazing first term, thank you for your continued support. We look forward to welcoming them back in the New Year for lots more hard work!!
