Week Commencing 16th October,2017
What a busy and productive last two weeks of half term. The children performed brilliantly in their class assembly. We are so proud of each and everyone of them, as we're sure you are. We have certainly realised the children have so much talent at such a young age.
The children have been writing some great adventure stories and have worked so hard to create a class book which you can enjoy next time you are in school.
In Maths the children have been exploring timetables and factors. They have worked so hard we have been able to move them onto laptops to explore fractions. Please continue to practise timetables throughout the half term break.
This afternoon they have had fun and creative time painting their Still Life compositions.
Cycling week is fast approaching. Please can you take your child out on their bike for some practise over the half term. This will enable us to get a quick start and get the children tested quickly to ensure they are all safe to ride on the road. A change of clothes is advisable for the training as children get wet and muddy. This needs to include socks. No loose items of clothing or jeans. The children need a helmet which will be measured on the first day to ensure it fits correctly. This is a great week for the children and we are hoping will help them as a long term skill. The children will be aiming to gain their cycle proficiency 1 and 2.
It was wonderful to meet you all at parents evening. We really appreciate all of the positive comments about how well your children are settling into year 5. We are keen to continue this excellent start. Thank you for taking part in the estimation station. The winning parents have received an enjoyable prize. Well done!
Have a great half term.
Mrs Debenham and Mrs Sandhu.
